Eagle Lake ESL Wilderness Adventure Guest Ranch is an authentic Canadian ranch preserved in time and culture located in the beautiful mountains on west coast of British Columbia.

Exciting farm stay and home stay adventures. Semi private English lessons (ESL), horseback riding, beautiful lake, great food and friends at our guest ranch in beautiful, BC, Canada. We want to share our Canadian culture and our unspoiled wilderness for your full educational experience.

Accommodations are provided in an authentic Chilcotin cabin, handcrafted in the 1960's by the homesteaders of Eagle Lake Ranch.

Eagle Lake Ranch is a operating ranch, with 8000 acres of wilderness for the cattle to graze. At the ranch you will encouraged to join in on some of the ranch activities.

The Guest Lodge: The cozy guest lodge has a floor to ceiling rock fireplace, sleeping loft and private bathroom. All meals are provided across the yard in the ranch house with the family.

Accommodation and meals: The students have a totally self contained semi private guest house, approximately 75 feet away from the main house. There are two bedrooms with three single beds in each, a shared bathroom. The bedrooms are decorated with an old fashioned country look, with large fluffy feather duvets for a great nights sleep. The guest house features a kitchen and living room with a TV and a computer with internet access, and also has on site laundry facilities. The meals are prepared in the families home and hosted dining room.

ESL: At our guest ranch you will have total immersion into English. This is not your regular classroom experience, you will learn by doing, experiencing and having lots of fun! You will be challenged, you will be encouraged, you will be supported.

English language training: We will start off English as a Second Language teaching with an interview to find out the students starting level and understanding of English. A customized curriculum is designed depending on the season and the wilderness activities.

Monday through Friday mornings there is 3 hours of "semi private" lessons with a maximum of 8 students. Considerable amount of research has found advantages to small groups for learning, it increases opportunities for student initiated communication, practice, and conversational exchanges.

The afternoons are free to practice and use your English skills, having fun, exploring or relaxing with a movie or a good book.

Horseback riding: You will have private horseback riding lessons in the corral each day for approximately 20 minutes, once your riding ability and confidence level is adequate; you will be ready for short trail rides around the property.

Outdoor Adventure: Snow capped mountains, remote and beautiful lakes. This is a wilderness experience of horseback riding, hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, playing on the white sandy beaches and enjoying a delicious meals cooked on the open fire.

Tourism/ Cultural Events: You will be guided to visit local lakes, rivers and beaches; shop in local communities; visit local crafters and artisans.

Petting Zoo: One of the most fun parts of living on the ranch is having animals! Eagle Lake Ranch has a great Petting Zoo with all kinds of friendly animals to play with.

Location: This western frontier known as the Chilcotin, is rich with Canadian traditions. A trip back in time to vast cattle ranches, the excitement of a cattle drive, small little school houses, snow capped mountains, remote and beautiful lakes.

The community of Tatla Lake is located on the Bella Coola Road (Highway 20), which leads from Williams Lake across the Chilcotin Plateau and Coast Mountains to Bella Coola on the west coast of central British Columbia.
